Before you buy or sell a used 980 Pro 1TB

Early 3B2QGXA7 firmware on the Samsung 980 Pro had a bug that could lock a drive into permanent read-only failure. It mainly hit 2TB drives, but the 1TB is worth checking too. Always request a Samsung Magician or CrystalDiskInfo screenshot confirming updated firmware, zero media errors, and normal drive health before buying a used unit.

Samsung sells this PCIe 4.0 M.2 2280 drive both bare and with a pre-fitted heatsink for PlayStation 5 consoles, and neither version should be confused with the slower PCIe 3.0 non-Pro 980.
