Before you buy or sell a used 980 1TB
Despite the similar name, the plain Samsung 980 1TB is a DRAM-less PCIe 3.0 M.2 NVMe drive and is a completely different part from the PCIe 4.0 Samsung 980 Pro. Check the label photo to be sure a standard 980 is not being passed off as the Pro model.
Because it relies on system RAM via Host Memory Buffer instead of onboard DRAM, check SMART health and total host writes in CrystalDiskInfo or Samsung Magician before buying.
