Before you buy or sell a used Black SN770 1TB

Western Digital built the WD Black SN770 1TB as a single-sided, DRAM-less PCIe 4.0 NVMe drive, sitting between the older PCIe 3.0 SN750 and the DRAM-equipped SN850X. Because it uses Host Memory Buffer, some unpatched drives suffered blue-screen crashes on Windows 11 24H2 until updated via the WD Dashboard utility.

Ask the seller for a SMART readout of total terabytes written and remaining spare blocks, and update the firmware immediately if installing it in a Windows 11 machine.
