Before you buy or sell a used i7-6700K

Multiplier overclocking on the 91W i7-6700K requires a Z170 or Z270 motherboard, as other 100 and 200-series LGA1151 boards lock the 4.2GHz four-core chip to stock speeds. Later 300-series LGA1151 boards are electrically incompatible, and the 65W non-K i7-6700 is a separate part.

Intel shipped the retail box without a cooler, and Skylake used a thinner PCB substrate that can warp at the corners under over-tightened heatsinks. Inspect edge photos and pair it with DDR4 or 1.35V DDR3L memory.
