Because the Zen 5 9950X shares the exact 16-core, 32-thread, 170W and 5.7GHz headline figures of the older Zen 4 7950X, always check a photo of the heatspreader engraving. The 3D V-Cache 9950X3D is also a separate part.
AMD includes no cooler in the box, and 170W all-core workloads call for a large liquid cooler or heavy dual-tower heatsink. It pairs with DDR5 on AM5 boards, which need a 2024 Zen 5 BIOS on 600-series chipsets.
