Before you buy or sell a used Generic 2TB SSD

Two-terabyte and 1.92TB SSD listings without a matched retail model land here across 2.5-inch and M.2 formats. Watch out for 1.92TB datacentre pulls that use SAS or U.2 connectors, as they look like 2.5-inch SATA drives in photos but will not plug into a standard desktop SATA cable.

For M.2 drives at 2TB, check whether NAND chips are mounted on both sides of the PCB, which can prevent installation in thin laptops, and verify genuine capacity via CrystalDiskInfo.
