Before you buy or sell a used Ryzen 7 5800X

Sellers sometimes muddle the 5800X with the 5800X3D or the 65W 5700X, both counted as separate parts here. Also watch for the OEM-only Ryzen 7 5800 pulled from prebuilt desktops, which is locked to a 65W rating.

All eight Zen 3 cores sit on a single die at 105W, and AMD included no cooler in the retail box. You need a dedicated graphics card, an aftermarket cooler, an AM4 board with a Zen 3 BIOS, and straight underside pins.
